“Hello World!”

Above the Snowline

Yea, It has been a while.

Sorry, Started a new job in October, and my life kinda got jumbled about – I am not sure I knew which way I was facing at times. Anyway, I have settled down now so hopefully Ill get out some more and find some stuff to post about. you could be so lucky.

A Chilly Hill

As it happens I went for a walk today to the local hill/mound whatever called Shutlingsloe, I did go up with the intent of recreating this: Shutlingloe Panorama but by the time I got up there I decided not to, the view wasn’t brilliant, there were quite a few people on the top so getting a nice clear shot would be hard, and to top it all of it was freezing.

Oh I do like…

… to be by the seaside.

I went to Formby Beach today with the family. I managed to regress somewhat and ended up building an exceedingly bad sandcastle. It was a most enjoyable afternoon, especially if we discount the mad dash back to the car as in true British fashion it decided to start raining.

I took some photo’s, most of them are to the deleted in due course, as due to the bad light (and my own mistakes) they were mostly blurry and under exposed messes. ah well.

I also came across some strange bits of flotsam and jetsam, we had the normal razor shells, mussels and various bits of driftwood, along side these usual bits of beach fodder we found lots of coal. All in all a very nice day out.

One man’s junk..

…is another man’s treasure.

Statistics for eve.smith-net.org.uk

Whilst cleaning out my domain to install wordpress I re-discovered (not that I really had lost it..) some old tools/files I had created many moons ago (around 36-48). One of the tools I had made was for eve-online, a game about spaceships, curious I checked the domain statistic program and to my surprise I found that it was averaging two to three thousand unique visitor every month.

Now this is shocking as I have many virtually no effort to publicise the tools existence so anyone that has heard of it has been by word of mouth, so I dug deeper into the referral logs. It seems that my site is linked on numerous eve related blogs/forums and fansites, from all corners of the globe, and I didn’t know about it.

It seems strange that, so many people use the tool I created (which is nice), yet the only time I ever heard any feedback was the few occasions it needed fixing or updating. I think it would be nice to have received a thank you every now or then, I do hope that the lack of acknowledgement is not indicative of how people act, but there are many people who never got the thank you they deserved. I know I for one will at least attempt to say thank you more often if people help me or I use what they have created.

I tought I saw a puddy cat…

Birds feeding in my garden.

…I did, I did see a puddy cat.

We recently got this bird feeder ‘thing’, It’s like a hat stand with a few hooks and dishes on it. Once we got it home and set-up we put these dried worm things in one of the dishes (along with some water and suet balls). We went inside and within about 20 minutes about 20-30 birds came seemingly out of nowhere and ate all the worms, unfortunately I was unable to get my camera in time to grab a picture. :(.

I have been able to take some pictures of the many Sparrows in the area eating the suet balls, they seem to enjoy them as they have eaten about 4 of them in a week or so.
